The written half and the visual half have to agree with each other. A sheet where the notes say one thing and the picture shows another is worse than having neither.

Why specific beats generic
A sheet that could describe any character describes none. The details worth writing down are the ones that would make two different artists draw the same person: a specific silhouette, a colour rule, a scar on a stated side.
